Jay Chow’s Songs
Jay Chow, he’s not only a household name in China and Asia, lots of people in North America and Europe know about him as well. So if you are not familiar with this name, just google it.
I don’t actually follow pop music that much. Although Jay has been very popular for quite a few years, I never really paid much attention to his music until a recent trip to China. I listened to one of his albums “November’s Chopin” on the plane, and fell in love with his songs right away. It was actually a surprise to me. The music is classical, poetic, rap and pop at the same time. The combination sounds so perfect that you don’t feel odd or awkward at all as when you think about it.
I downloaded more of Jay’s songs in the past two days, and have been enjoying listening to them a lot. The two songs I posted here are two of my favorites. You can hear beautiful piano melody with great electronic beats in rap style, an orchestra with melancholic cello, violin, guitar, and traditional Chinese musical instruments together with Jay’s voice.
The lyrics are beautiful too, and I was trying to find their English translation but couldn’t. But then I thought, I can’t even figure out most of the words myself (Jay is known for not singing the lyrics clearly), and great music is borderless anyways. So enjoy!
